There were two ties in the HUWS GRAY sponsored Megan cup, in a round 1 previously postponed tie Llanfairpwll Reserves entertained Amlwch Town Reserves in what proved to be an entertaining and exciting game. Llan had taken the lead when a neat ball played through allowed Ricky Roberts to run through and slip the ball past keeper Dan Jones [16]. The goal lifted the hosts who began to exert pressure on the Town defence and looked to have doubled the lead when Ioan Hughes struck from close range – only to be ruled offside. Amlwch also made chances but surprisingly half-time arrived with the score still 1-0. In the second period, Town gained an early reward for their attacking policy with the award of a penalty and Sion Wyn Griffiths duly obliged [52]. Amlwch were now buoyant and when Brian Jones put them in front with just fifteen minutes remaining it looked like they would be the team going through. But when the hosts slung over a corner to the far post with only three minutes remaining, it was headed back across goal where Caerwyn Roberts stole in to equalize [87] and as the ninety minutes were up it looked like extra-time would be needed to separate the two teams, that is until Ioan Hughes - who ironicaly transferred recently from Amlwch, hit the winner a minute into injury time.
