TIGERS ROAR INTO SEMI FINAL OF HUWS GRAY

MEGAN CUP WITH VICTORY AT TREARDDUR BAY

The second round ties in the HUWS GRAY sponsored Megan threw together in form Trearddur Bay Res and Menai Bridge Tigers. It was the Tigers who roared into a two goal lead, and it was the League’s leading scorer Lance Williams who put them ahead running on to a clever through ball that saw him in a one on one with the keeper and he kept his calm to find the net [19]. Worse was to follow for the hosts when they went two goals down, though there seemed little or no danger when Andrew Barker picked up the ball some twenty five yards out but with a tremendous drive from all of the 25 yards he sent the ball screaming into the top corner to make it 2-0 [31]. Despite the quality of the two goals the score-line must have been hard for the Bay to swallow as their performance did not warrant a two gaol deficit. The second period was more even, and possibly the visitors had unwittingly taken their foot off the gas but Trearddur got back into it when Craig Broadie pulled one back from the penalty spot [75]. The Tigers held firm for the remaining fifteen minutes with sixteen year old defender Tommy Lewis outstanding as they went through by the 2-1 margin.
