WILLIAM HILL ELIAS CUP VICTORY FOR MORAWELON

By McCann Dave

IN NINE GOAL THRILLER

The clash between Morawelon and visitors Llanfairpwll Reserves in round one of the William HILL sponsored Elias Cup, produced nine goals in an entertaining and exciting game. The hosts welcomed back Asa Thomas after a long layoff through injury and he celebrated by scoring two of the goals in a 6 v 3 verdict. Sion Murphy joined him with a brace of his own, and brother Dale, after hitting eight last week , had to be content with just the one. Barry Haigh was the other marksman. Three goals away from home would normally at least ensure a draw, but goals in reply from Joe Eastern, Sion Williams and Ryan Parsons counted for nothing as Morawelon secured a place in the quarter-finals and a trip to Amlwch.
