By McCann Dave

WITH LATE WINNER IN LOCAL DERBY

Llandegfan Antelope welcomed local rivals Menai Bridge Tigers In the Quarter-final of the KonX Wales Dargie cup an were a goal down after when, following a number of shots that were parried or blocked the ball fell to Gareth Barker who unceremoniously blasted the ball home. The goal served to settle the visitors who began to create openings and keeper Ben Roberts pulled off a couple of good saves but was grateful to the woodwork when beaten, first by Dylan Roberts and then Lance Williams.
With three quarters of the game gone Tigers may well have been thinking of a place in the semis but they were made to think again when in the seventy seventh minute Lope equalized. Josh Royds robbed the ball from Alex Jones and set Dion Roberts free and he deliberately curled the ball to the far post where Aled Hughes nodded the ball back into the path of Gerwyn Roberts who stroked the ball home. The goal served to lift the Lope and create concern in the Tigers ranks and with a minute left on the clock Referee Mr Liam Gray, of Rhyl, adjudged visitors captain Alex Jones to have handled in the box and had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, and home captain Aled Hughes calmly slotted the ball home to take his team into the semi finals with a tie against the winners of Llangefni Town Reserves and Pentraeth.

Manager Jamie Davies was delighted with his team's resolve. "I thought we showed tremendous spirit to get back into the game today. We hung on in there in the first half and then improved dramatically in the second. Still, with twenty minutes to go we were heading out, so it shows great character from our lads to turn the game around and win it 2-1." He went on to say that “ we are now just 90 minutes away from a final which is played at Nantpoeth home of Bangor City F.C.... what an incentive.”
