TO QUARTER-FINAL OF KONX WALES DARGIE CUP

Llandegfan Antelope and Trearddur Bay Res , without a doubt the two most in forms teams – other than the unbeaten leaders Pentraeth, met head to head for a place in the quarter-finals of the KONX WALES DARGIE CUP and provided a match that had almost everything. Good football, goals a plenty, penalties, sending- offs, extra- time and plenty of drama. As one onlooker said, “Both sides gave everything and it was sad that one had to lose.

The lope took an early lead an exchange of passes saw Aled Hughes trick his marker and slot the ball wide of the keeper [20]. The second period saw the Bay draw level when Joe Caven rounded off a three man move. Bay then went ahead when they were awarded a penalty that was converted by Caven but also saw the lope reduced to ten men [80]. Despite the set-back, with three minutes left the ten men were level as Gerwyn Roberts scored his fourth goal in five games and so to extra time.

With the Lope pressing it was against the run of play when the Bay were awarded another penalty and Caven completed his hat-trick. His celebrations did not last long as he received his marching orders and both teams now had ten men and this spurred on the hosts who drew level again with Gerwyn Roberts again the marksman. The keepers were starting to think of a penalty shoot-out making one of them the hero, but with a couple of minutes remaining, 17 year old Josh Royds claimed that title of `hero', as scored his first ever goal for the Club, squeezing the ball in from a tight angle to send the home fans wild with delight and his team into the quarter-final.!

Manager Jamie Davies was understandably elated following the dramatic turn around, and commented "It was unbelievable, there were so many good individual performances I don't know where to start “.
