AS HAT-TRICKS BECOME COMMON PLACE

The first day of December brought with it, thirty four goals and six hat-tricks

In the KonX Wales Anglesey League, second placed , Morawelon travelled to Cemaes Bay looking to pick up maximum points in pursuit of the leaders, and pick- up points they did, as well as boost their goal difference with a 17v 2 victory. Celebrating his return after his long lay-off with injury Asa Thomas followed last week’s brace with a `double hat-trick’ [6], Barry Haigh and Jordon Murphy both claimed a hat-trick, whilst Mikey Murphy managed one less [2], Ryan Roberts, Mark Williams, Ricky Lavelle all hit singles and rep[lying for Cemaes was Tim Williams with both goals.

Leaders, Pentraeth welcomed a young Bodorgan team and were also looking for maximum points to stay ahead in the title race. They ensured the three points with a Gareth Roberts hat-trick [10,43,46], two by Rees Roberts, and Llion Williams and Tony Farrar in a seven nil victory which means they have won all eleven games and lead by five points but Morawelon now have a better goal difference by seven goals.

Aberffraw who scored their first goal in five weeks last Saturday at Pentraeth were hoping to continue their scoring streak and leap-frog visitors Newbrough. They succeeded through a David Griffiths strike after 28 minutes - his first for the club. The 1v0 score-line does not do justice to the Aberffraw performance and should at least have been doubled but Matty Reynolds – a scorer last week, had his penalty saved by keeper Peter Rogerson.

Llangoed & District found out quite quickly why Trearddur Bay Utd., Res., lie in third place as Dave Webb put them ahead in the first half hour . Wayne Thomas, the clubs leading scorer was twice denied by the woodwork but Tom Parry did manage to find the net to equalize and the points were shared with Trearddur still in third spot.

The one outstanding tie in the KonX Wales Dargie Cup, saw Menai Bridge Tigers roar in to the quarter-finals, with a comfortable 5-0 verdict at Llanfairpwll Res. leading goal scorer Lance Williams struck twice in the first period and was followed by Dylan Roberts brace in the second half [68,78] So with both players looking to complete their hat-trick it was an unselfish gesture when Williams , unmarked in the 6 yard box, let the ball roll to Roberts stood behind him, who struck it firmly into the net for his hat-trick and complete a five goal victory.

The Quarter-final draw now read:-
tie 1 Llangefni Res. v CPD Pentraeth
tie 2 Llangoed & District v Amlwch Town Res.
tie 3 Morawelon v CPD Aberffraw
tie 4 Llandegfan 'Antelope v Menai B. T.

PICTURE:- it’s behind you!
The Llanfairpwll goal-keeper is flat out, the ball is in the back of the net as Dylan Roberts nets his second [78] before completing his hat-trick five minutes later
