AT BODORGAN IN TEN GOAL BLAST

Bodorgan welcomed the unpredictable Llangoed & District and found that the visitors were in their determined mood and firing on all cylinders, with Wayne Thomas and Craig Jones in particular taking the eye as visitors ran up ten goals to a single reply. Between them, Thomas and Jones claimed seven of the ten goals scored Wayne Thomas capped his performance with four goals and Craig Jones was just one behind with a hat-trick. The other Llangoed marksmen were, Iwan Williams, Mark Jones and Mathew Owen. Owen was the scorer of the tenth and last goal, and the `goal of the game’, when he chipped the keeper from the half-way line to register his first ever goal in senior football. Gethin Morgan scored for Bodorgan with a direct free-kick from outside the box.

Llangoed Chairman, Mr Owain Williams commented, “ We played well today scoring ten goals, but the most pleasing thing was that nine of them were created by constructive passing and team play. Mathews’ goal was the only solo effort and it was fitting in a way bearing in mind it was his first ever goal in senior football”. He went on to say that, “ Bodorgan keeper Chris Evans need not feel in any way responsible for the score-line as he pulled off four or five excellent saves”
